Some may think that the Veterans of Foreign Wars is only interested in helping veterans.  In fact, the Charles Town, VFW supports many local community organizations with children being a top priority.  Each year, they sponsor all interested children by paying their way to the WV VFW Youth Camp at Camp Dawson in Kingwood, WV.  They also regularly teach flag etiquette and patriotism by request at the local schools and to Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America.  They willingly rent out their fellowship hall free of charge to local groups and individuals for fundraisers and they even host a monthly breakfast, donating all proceeds to deserving causes.

The Washington High School Key Club was recently the recipient of this generosity when VFW Post 3522 in Charles Town hosted their breakfast in support of the club.  The VFW footed the bill for all of the food, hosted it at their hall and supplied the volunteers to run the event.  They asked for nothing in return and raised $956 for the Key Club.  We thank the VFW for their service to our community and look forward to a continued relationship in service.
